Terms and Conditions of Sale
If the Border Collie cannot be kept, for any reason, it is to be returned to Tonalee. If you have another home in mind for the dog, you must clear it with us first, because we will want to know all about the prospective family. If we do approve, we will do so in writing.
The Border Collie must receive all annual vaccinations, periodic worm medicine, etc., whatever your veterinarian advises. The Border Collie must receive any necessary veterinary treatment for accident or illness, routine or emergency. Be safe, not sorry. We strongly encourage the purchase of pet insurance.
You must let us know if any condition arises that affects the Border Collie's health. This is very important, as we are professional breeders that must take into consideration any hereditary problems.
You agree to have the Border Collie's hips OFA or PennHIP certified by the age of two years and to have the Border Collie's eyes CERF cleared yearly. Normal and abnormal hip/eye reports must be sent to us. This is vitally important for two reasons. First, we guarantee the Border Collie free of PRA and hip Dysplasia. Second, we are professional breeders that must take into consideration any hereditary problems.
The puppy will receive basic obedience training. No matter how you rate yourself as a trainer, all puppies benefit from formal classes. We encourage all our puppy buyers to aspire to passing the AKC Canine Good Citizen test.
The Border Collie should be provided for in your will, so that if something should happen to you, the Border Collie will be cared for. The best provision is to specify that the Border Collie is returned to Tonalee.
You will keep us informed about the Border Collie's health and well being. We love getting telephone calls, letters, Christmas Cards and pictures.
All Buyers must sign a purchase contract prior to the Border Collie's release.
We expect the Border Collie to be raised as a valued member of your family.
Note: Puppies sold at a *pet* price will be AKC Limited Registered. This means you may compete in AKC herding, obedience and agility, but NOT in AKC conformation. This also means that if you breed your dog, the puppies will NOT be AKC registrable. We also require that you spay/neuter the dog, depending on what age your vet thinks is best. Puppies sold as *show/breeding* dogs will be expected to show, with the intent of gaining an AKC Championship title. Our litters are registered with AKC and we reserve the right to name them. We try to accommodate you with a name you choose and of course, the call name is up to you. If you have any questions on these terms and conditions, please call and discuss them with us.
